Hi. I am a capybara so I know one when I see one. We are incredibly cute, but the animal in this photo is a wombat. We are confused with wombats surprisingly often, although we have little in common. When I'm out and about town, I'd say wombat is in the top three animals that people misidentify me with.
Yep, they're all right, that's a wombat which originates from Australasia. Capybaras originate from South America. And although they're both big, cute and cuddly, they look quite different from each other. Wombats are marsupials, while capybaras are rodents. The world's biggest rodents in fact. :)
